In 2013, the Company opened a branch on Assumpta Avenue (Bank Road), Owerri, Imo State — its second centre, and its first outside Lagos.
Under the leadership of Dr Everest Okpara, Everight Diagnostics developed into a level-3 biosafety laboratory with molecular capabilities at its branch in Owerri in 2019.
It was recognised as the first private laboratory to obtain special approval from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) to offer COVID-19 PCR tests in Nigeria, and was also one of the first sets of private laboratories approved by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to provide real-time COVID-19 PCR tests.
